About Betty Lou Barry

Betty Lou Barry

I was born in Northern New Jersey. The earlier parts of my life were spent in New Jersey, New York and Florida where most of my single, group and gallery showings took place. My full time permanent residence is Boca Raton, Florida.

My flair for art began in early childhood. Although I have some formal art education at Syracuse University and The Art Students League in New York City I am mostly self taught. If I had to choose what gave me the most inspiration, it was the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. I spent many hours studying the artists that I admired.

I have had the opportunity to travel to many world locations to enhance my visual inspiration. The waterfalls, rain forest, park scenes and zoos are the inspiration for my “Jungle” paintings. The Rues of Paris, alleys of Italy, canals of Venice and the flower markets of Spain, Italy and Paris sparked my interest in painting “Travel” and “Floral” scenes.

My second love is photography. It has been a great aid in capturing the subjects for my paintings. I get tremendous satisfaction when the viewer or owner of my work feels that they are part of the painting.

In my earlier years I was an Interior Designer. This aided my ability for detail and color. With the technology of Giclee reproduction I can offer representation of many of my original works. Thank you for viewing my web site and I hope you enjoyed it.
